Breakfast. At the indicated time, transfer to the airport and flight to Colon Island, in the archipelago of Bocas del Toro, on the coast of the Caribbean Sea and near the border with Costa Rica. A beautiful and peaceful archipelago composed of more than 60 islands, islets and mangrove cays. The Spanish colonizers arrived here for the first time in the fourth and last voyage of Christopher Columbus to the new continent. From 1502, these lands were part of the Governorate of Veragua. In 1821, with the independence of the Captaincy General of Guatemala, the archipelago became part of this state, integrated as Costa Rican territory. However, in 1836 the neighboring Republic of New Granada took possession of the territory, which became part of the Department of Panama. In 1903, after the separation of Panama from Colombia, it became part of the Republic of Panama. In 1997, much of the territory was assigned to the indigenous community of Ngäbe-Buglé, which extends over the continental and mountainous territory of the central mountain range and the Caribbean coast.
